I've bought housing from that guy ... they work great for CPQ, my only complaint would be the way the door fronts open & there size ....I've had a few fly past me whilst changing food and water.

These are the double budgie breeders - 4' x 18" x 12"

Hi. Thanks Hask and Suz for your replies. Thank you for showing me those great photos to Suz. What sort of drinkers do you use or recommend? Did you just use newspaper and straw for their bedding in those cages?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jamie

I also use wood shavings in those cages, the newspaper is just to make it quick an easy to clean out (I just roll/fold up the newspaper gathering all the mess inside), the drawback with the shavings is that the birds kick it out of the cage fronts.

I use finger feeders & drinkers like those in the link below & D Cups, I found that the finger feeders cut down wastage and mess greatly, and reduced dirtballs on their feet as their not able to trample & scratch about in the feeders.

Hi Suz.
Thank you so much for more fab pics! That looks great. I won the breeding cage on ebay so should be arriving on my days off from work this week. I shall be investing in some feeders and drinkers like you have and think I shall line them in newspaper as you have done to make the cleaning easier/quicker. They look brilliant.
I do have one more question, I think, lol, do you put any sand in a container for them to dust bath in?
Would they use perches.. I am guessing not?

Many thanks.
Jamie. :D

hi Jamie

No they wont use the perches, but there easy taken out as there just glued onto the back of the cage. I gave them chincilla dust baths to start with, but found they liked to nest in them better, I also tried little plastic tubs but they just kicked out all the sand so now I dont bother with containers I just put a few scoops of bird sand on the floor of the cages.

Looking forward to seeing photos of your CPQ in their fancy new house

Hi Suz.
The cage has arrived and the CPQ are in it, seems to be working fine at the moment. The only issue that did concern me was that the wooden guides/divider holders are higher than I thought they would be so when I am not using the divider I was concerned about the step. Do you use or do anything to avoid this? or are they fine with it? Do you know if there is a cage like that without it?

I have ordered some feeders and drinkers as well like yours which I think will work much better. Once I get those and am a bit more sorted I will post some pics!

Many thanks again.

Hi Jamie

I wouldn't worry about divider guide, the CPQ just take it in their stride ... my problem with it is when it gets covered in poop .. its a pain to clean because it gets into the rut/groove and sets like concrete, but I came up with a half solution :P ... I bought long wooden kebab skewers from asda (I've seen them in the BBQ section in B&Q and Tesco too) and push one into the groove leaving just enough stick poking out to pull out using pliers ... the sticks aren't always long enough though depending on where they came from & who makes them,so I use my wallpaper scraper on the bits that still gets messy.
