We impulse-bought 4 Italian Jumbo quail at a fair in May, supposedly 1 cock & 3 hens. First it turned out that we had 2 & 2 (the surplus cock has been rehomed), and now one of the hens is getting so scared of the remaining cock that she injures herself in her desperate attempts to get away from him. We've had to take her out, leaving only one hen, Florence, to get all of Oscar's attentions. I know you're not supposed to introduce new ones into an existing situation, but I worry for Florence's health if she stays alone with Oscar.
Big problem: there's no seller of jumbo quail near us that I can find. As a matter of fact, I can't even find any mention of Italian Jumbo anywhere.
